A Bible Study for Small Groups
Does it matter if we believe the Bible? Who is God, and how does he relate to us? If God created everything and said, “It is good,” why is there sin? How can we reconcile God’s Will vs. man’s free will? What about salvation? Why does Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross matter to the entire world? Can’t we just recognize Jesus as a wise, moral teacher and not have to accept him as fully God as well as fully man? What about the End Times? What does the Bible tell us to expect?
These are just some of the types of questions that will be explored by participants in this Study throughout twelve weekly class sessions. Personal study and class discussion time will involve considering what we as Christians believe about ten of the underpinning “theological pillars” of Christianity: The Bible; God; Jesus; Man and Sin; Salvation; The Holy Spirit; The Trinity; Angels, Satan and Demons; The Church; and Future Events.
This thought-provoking, non-denominational Bible study has been written and designed for use by small groups, utilizing a two-hour weekly class format. An individual can certainly gain much from the experience of completing the study, but greater richness comes when the lessons are discussed in a group setting. We all have deep questions about God and His plan for us and our world, and it is tremendously enlightening to be able to hear how our fellow Christians are working to “be ready to give an answer” to themselves and to others about the faith that we share!
Participants will be asked to complete the lesson assignment prior to class each week. This will facilitate the amount of time that everyone will have to ponder some of the “big questions” that will be posed regarding the background and nature of our Christian faith. Then, in class, the group will work together to express “answers” that might be given in response to these questions.
We hope you will plan to embark on this impacting study of God’s Word, and that you will feel free to ask friends to join you in your study, too!
